BBC Club Showcase, Steve Wright and the Airing Of The Janice Long Review Show…

I have loved having daughter, Blue,surname Berry,  in London for the last couple of weeks. She has been doing work experience at Big Life Management. Blue knows she wants to work in music, I wonder why? Anyway she had a great time working there. I think her only disappointment was that she didn’t get to meet The Klaxons.

I took her to see Josephine do a showcase at the BBC club. Josephine hails from Manchester and I know Guy Garvey is a fan. 

She has it all – great voice, great tunes and she is gorgeous with legs up to her armpits.Portrait is her album which is out later this year and there is a single, What a Day, which is out mid August. I have already played it on my Radio 2 show and I have asked her to come and do Janice Long Presents. 

Another artist I am keen on is Nikki Murray. I met up with him last week. His Dad’s record collection -Hendrix and Mayall- inspired him to pick up the guitar. He went on to play with Backstreet Boys, UnkleJam, James Blunt and loads of others but all along he knew he wanted to do his own stuff and now he is. It’s really good.I hope Nikki will come to the Skandi Kitchen too.

Have you  managed to watch The Janice Long Review Show on Vintage TV -Sky 369 and Freesat 515.I haven’t because we don’t have Sky! Mind you, I am not one for watching myself. What I look like in my head and what I look like on the tele are two totally different things. If I catch sight of myself on a screen I just want to disappear. I can’t stand looking at me. Never have. I hate going to the hairdressers because you have to sit facing yourself for a couple of hours. It’s very cruel especially when your hair is scraped back.I always think I look like Matt Lucas who I love but don’t want to look like. I now keep my eyes closed until the hair is done and use the ‘I work nights’ excuse.

Right, I am doing this blog at 03.19 and I have to be up early to guest on Steve Wright’s show on Radio 2. Steve is a lovely man and a great broadcaster. He has always been good to me.
