Another Jam Packed Week…

It’s been a mad couple of weeks. Saw The Coronas do a pre England v Ukraine gig. Really good apart from my phone going off during a beautiful acoustic song. I have the boing boing ringtone and it is so loud. Very embarrassing. Jack Savoretti at Bush Hall was possibly one of the best gigs I have been to. It was rammed and extremely hot. I thought I was going to spontaneously combust. The crowd loved Jack and he was overwhelmed by the almighty reception. He is a star.
After my Thursday in to Friday show on Radio 2 I stayed up and headed off to Gatwick to fly to Guernsey for the Guernsey Festival. It was a very bumpy flight but we made it in one piece. I compered with my mate Wes Butters. Great line up including Delilah, Raising Maisie,Little Barrie, Electric Stars, Albert Lee etc.
Danced my socks off and sang along to the mighty Charlatans. Tim Burgess et al are so lovely. The Kaiser Chiefs rounded off the weekend and Ricky is another good bloke which is more than can be said for the Kaiser’s tour manager. He stopped me from introducing the band even though Ricky had asked me to make an announcement about the fact that their set might be curtailed because of a curfew. Then when I had to go on at the end of the set to close the festival and bring on the organisers he demanded I be removed from the stage. Prick.
Just recorded the last couple of Janice Long Review Shows for Vintage TV. The series has started and goes out on Sunday nights. It is recorded at the legendary 12 bar in Denmark Street, Tin Pan Alley in London. My guests were journalist, broadcaster and Mercury Music Prize judge, Jude Rogers,Katrina of Katrina and the Waves and Clare Grogan, Altered Images and actress.
3 very talented women and me. Great conversation, discussion and laughter. Katrina’s take on The Clash is very interesting.
Clare Grogan also revealed that Bobby Gillespie roadied for Altered Images back in the day!
This weekend I am heading off to the Mostley Jazz Festival. George Clinton and Parliament. Can’t wait.
